Feeding frenzy? Possibly. But that doesn't change the facts. Have government officials ever flown to Detroit to demand a recall from a domestic manufacturer? No. Has there ever been a series of recalls, within days, from any other automaker? No. Has Chevrolet sold truck featuring frames that rust in two within a few years? No. Has Ford ever told its customers to place a truck's spare tire inside so it won't fall off and onto the highway? No. Has Dodge refused to recall a product with a defective passenger airbag switch? No. Toyota redesigned vehicles where the gas pedal could become stuck, the Siennna minivan for one, and then refused to recall any defective vans already sold....until the government was alerted and forced the issue. So much for putting your customers first.
